Our Funding Areas

Support the Charleston Area Branch 110 Fund
The Charleston Area Branch of ASALH is dedicated to preserving and promoting African American history and culture, but we need your help to continue this important work.
Your contributions to the “110 Fund” will directly support key initiatives that uplift our community, including:
1. Underwriting the CHS ASALH Black History Month Kickoff, an event that launches an exciting month of Black History events education, discussions, and fellowship.
2. Supporting the Charleston Ancestor Remembrance Ceremony, an annual commemoration held every 2nd Saturday in June, honoring those who endured the horrors of the Middle Passage.
3. Establishing the Black History Saturdays Initiative, which empowers our community through education and cultural enrichment.
4. Assisting with student branch participation and 1967 Legacy Scholars membership dues, ensuring students can engage in critical opportunities, including attending and presenting at the 110th ASALH National Conference to continue their educational and professional journeys.
JULIE MONROE MEMORIAL FUND

Funds would support the Branch’s educational outreach programs. This fund was established in 2021 after the passing of Julie Monroe, a dedicated member of the Association. She served as Branch Treasurer and President.
