The Charleston Area Branch of ASALH welcomes community submissions for our Community Events Calendar, a space dedicated to sharing programs, gatherings, and initiatives that highlight African American history, culture, and education. Whether you’re organizing a lecture, cultural festival, book talk, or historical commemoration, we invite you to submit your event for consideration. Our goal is to provide a central hub where community members can stay informed and engaged with meaningful events throughout Charleston and surrounding areas. All submissions will be reviewed for alignment with ASALH’s mission before being added to the calendar. Thank you for helping us connect, educate, and celebrate African American heritage together!

Voices of Literacy
In celebration of Kwanzaa, join Charleston Country Public Library as they highlight the literacy contributions of African American authors at this all-ages event!
Panelists include the following:

- Rian N. Jenkins, Author and Program Director of Crown Her
- Regina Duggins, Educator and Author
- Mrs. Christine Washington (The Queen Christine), Author, Poet, Spoken Word Artist, and Motivational Speaker
- Quenetta White, Executive Director of the Elementary Learning Community
