Join CHS ASALH for “Septima” at Waterfront Park – A Play About Local Civil Rights Leader Septima P. Clark – October 26

Join us for “Septima”, a play by Patricia Williams Dockery, presented by Pure Theatre. This powerful production tells the story of Charleston native and civil rights pioneer Septima P. Clark, whose lifelong dedication to education and equality left an indelible mark on the Civil Rights Movement. The event takes place on Saturday, October 26th at 2 PM at Waterfront Park. Charleston ASALH Mourns the Loss of Long-Time Member and Activist, Ruth (McClain) Rambo

Ruth Rambo, formerly known as Ruth McClain, blazed a trail in activism after graduating from Fisk University in the 1960s. She rose to become one of the earliest female directors at the Urban League and confronted gender discrimination in a landmark lawsuit. Her influence reached national levels, leading the New Jersey delegation to the 1977 National Women’s Conference.
